Dr. Steve Booysen
Executive Chairman / Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Steve Booysen is the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Metrofibre Networx.

He is a non-executive director of various listed companies such as, Efficient Group Ltd, Steinhoff Ltd, Clover Ltd, Senwes Group Ltd and Vukile Properties Ltd.

Dr. Steve Booysen is the former Group Chief Executive of Absa Group and is a council member at the University of Pretoria.

Jan-Jan Bezuidenhout
Investment Principal: Sanlam Private Equity (SPE)
B.Com, LLB

Jan-Jan represents Sanlam Private Equity on the Metrofibre Networx board. He joined SPE in July 2012 and currently serves as Investment Principal, where his responsibilities include the origination, negotiation, structuring and execution of new investments as well as the monitoring and exit of existing portfolio assets.

He represents SPE as a non-executive director on the boards of the portfolio companies for which he is responsible. Prior to joining SPE, Jan-Jan was employed as an Associate Principal in Absa Capital’s Equity Investments unit focusing on Private Equity, Infrastructure Equity and Mezzanine Finance, and Corporate Development.

Jan-Jan holds both a BCom and LLB degree from Stellenbosch University and completed a General Course in Philosophy, Management and Strategy, Law of Corporate Finance, and EU/UK Competition Law at the London School of Economics.

Alton Solomons
CEO: Sanlam Private Equity (SPE)
CA (SA), CFA

Alton represents Sanlam Private Equity (SPE) on the Metrofibre Networx board. He joined SPE in May 2005 in the Johannesburg Office as a Principal and has since Jan 2012 been appointed as CEO of Sanlam Private Equity.

He also represents SPE and its clients on boards and investment committees of portfolio companies and private equity funds. He is Chartered Accountant with a post graduate diploma in Auditing from Unisa.

He qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst in January 2007, with the CFA Institute in the USA. In 2003 Alton successfully completed the Lim’uvune Investment Training and Development Program. He completed his articles with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2001. He then joined Shoprite Checkers as a Trainee Divisional Financial Manager responsible for reporting on a number of African Countries. In March 2002 he joined the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) as a business analyst, later to be promoted to account manager.

Rene Schutte
Investment Principal: Sanlam Private Equity (SPE)
B. Acc (Hons), CA(SA), Mcom

Rene represents Sanlam Private Equity (SPE) on the Metrofibre Networx board. Rene joined SPE in March 2011 as Investment Principal, where she is responsible for sourcing of potential investments, evaluation and implementation, post investment management and represents SPE on the various governance structures of its investments. Rene is a qualified Chartered Accountant and completed her articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Entrepreneurial Advisory Division.  She also holds a Masters Degree in South African and International Taxation from RAU.

Rene has been active in the private equity industry since 2004 when she joined Tiso Group as Finance Manager and Private Equity Deal Executive.  At Tiso, apart from being responsible for the entire finance function, she was also responsible for the evaluation and structuring of investments, providing tax advice to the group and representing Tiso Group on the audit committees of its various investments.

In 2008 she joined Tsiya Group, a small investment company, as Director, responsible for, deal sourcing and structuring, due diligence investigations and post investment management.  During her time at Tsiya, she also acted as managing director of Radio Gagasi (a regional radio station in Kwazulu Natal).

Hendrik Oppermann
CFO

Hendrik is a Chartered Accountant who has spent most of his career life in Financial Services where he has occupied various positions, mainly in Finance, Operations and Technology. He retired from Absa as Executive for Group Operation and Technology and took up his current role in Metrofibre as Chief Financial Officer.
